Can you save frozen plants? The answer is yes and no. Informe yourself before making an investment or getting rid of your existing landscape. We will post info about preparing your plants for the freeze as well. Whether you find yourself after a freeze or you are looking forward to experiencing one, Haus Fixer is your best solution.
- Prevent: water your plants before a freeze to create an ice capsule. This will protect your plants during the freeze and after as well. The water will create a barrier against extreme cold, and when the ice melts the remaining water will moist the plant again.
- Solution: water over the top after the frost has happened. The trick is pure cool water and before the sun hits.
- Helping recovery: if your plant has frozen but the roots are OK, you can cut off the dead parts.
- Just add water: sometimes we do not realize that frozen soil becomes dry, and adding water may save your plant.
- Bring them in: sensitive plants can survive inside the house during the winter. Just be sure to look for bugs. Homes are often very dry in the winter, so proper watering is a must.
- Last but not least: if you do lose a plant, you can still save the seeds.
